RoundTable Announces 3rd Recipient of the Robert DeBaun Humanitarian Award

RoundTable Healthcare Partners is pleased to announce the 3nd recipient of the Robert DeBaun Humanitarian Award.  Neida Ortiz, nominee from Beaver-Visitec, International (BVI) in Waltham, MA, was selected from a group of distinguished candidates nominated by RoundTable portfolio companies.  We congratulate each nominee and thank them for their humanitarian efforts.

Established in 2011, The Robert DeBaun Humanitarian award was created to honor Bob and those like him who have made the world a better place by changing lives… one person at a time.  Bob was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at RoundTable where he was highly regarded and respected as a passionate advocate, both on a personal and professional level, for the people he represented and encountered along life’s journey.  Bob served over 30 years in a number of senior human resource positions.  In each of these roles, he was a tireless supporter for what he believed to be a company’s most valuable asset – people. Each year, RoundTable portfolio companies nominate employees whom they believe represent the values that Bob personified, the values to which RoundTable hopes everyone in the RoundTable family of companies will aspire.

This year’s award recipient, Neida Ortiz, is the Group Leader for BVI’s Electronic Assembly Department in Waltham, MA.  She is always helping out, giving advice, and making sure the product is ready for shipping.  And her colleagues say she probably does a million other things as well.

In addition to her work at BVI, Neida is the President/Treasurer of Latinos en Accion, a non-profit organization in Waltham.  The organization supports Latino and non-Latino families in the community.  They hold a city wide Latino Festival on the Waltham Common and they participate in the Aids Walk, Cancer Walk, Hunger Walk, and several other events.  Neida leads and organizes much of the fundraising activity for the less fortunate.  They host beauty pageants, softball games, Halloween parties and Christmas parties for the kids, gather donations for needy families on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and once a year they choose one Latino family in need to support financially.  Last year it was a family with a young boy with cancer.

When Neida sees a way to help those in need, she takes action.  She recently started a number of other programs including an after school program for under-privileged children and programs to deliver Thanksgiving dinners and Children’s Christmas gifts to the local community.  Neida does all of this with a huge smile, never expecting anything in return.  When asked about Neida, those who know her would most certainly tell you about one of the many small acts of kindness she performs on a daily basis.  She is truly a selfless person who is always thinking of others.  Neida was nominated by the first recipient of the award, Jerome “Bubba” Bowen, who truly understands what it means to be a humanitarian and recognizes the same spirit in others.

Neida was honored at RoundTable in December 2013.
